Sandy Cohen Annihilates Ninjas
Sandy Cohen is not your typical TV dad. He’s a true mensch who not only looks after his own family, but actually takes on stragglers. As if being the father to Southern California’s most neurotic teenager, Seth Cohen, isn’t enough, he goes and brings home a poor, abandoned thug from Chino with a heart of gold and an infinite supply of white tank tops. While Ryan Atwood may have been the missing piece to the Cohens’ happy home, it was Sandy’s wit, morals, good humor, and those impressive eyebrows that truly held them together.
Let’s run down the reasons Sandy’s The O.C.’s ultimate Dad:
He encourages safe sex:
“We Cohens are very sexual beings. Virile. Get used to it.”
When his awkward teenage son ends up having awkward teenage sex (although, come on, those actors were like, 28), Sandy comes to the rescue with the good old fashioned awkward parental sex talk. In what can only be dubbed a casting miracle, Peter Gallagher and Adam Brody have amazing father/son chemistry and pitch perfect comedic timing. I swear they might actually be related.
Sandy: If you can’t tell your dad, who can you talk to?
Seth: Gee, I don’t know. Ryan, Mom, that tree over there.
Sandy: You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone.
Seth: When are you leaving?
